A man of the match performance from Ballymackey goalkeeper Jack Glesson deprived Rearcross of the win in this league tie played at Rearcross FC Grounds on Saturday afternoon. Both sides were slow to get in to their stride and it was the visitors who created the first chance when Enda Shanahan fired wide with a good effort midway through the half. Paul Nolan was in the action seconds later to break up a promising Ballymackey attack. Rearcross were denied by the visiting custodian five minutes before the break when good approach play involving Stephen Rochford saw Jack Morrissey through on goal who fired on target with a fine effort, however Jack Gleeson sprung to his right to make a superb save. Cillian Kennedy followed up two minutes later with a shot from distance which was gathered by Ballymackey netminder on the second attempt. Rearcross were on top for long spells in the second half as Andy Kinnane linked up with Billy John Caplis inside the first minute, however David Corcoran cleared for the visitors. Jack Hayes saved again with a good block from Cathal Kennedy and then denied Stephen Rochford with succesive saves. It was proving to be one of those days for Rearcross when Cathal Kennedy lofted on target five minutes from time, however the Ballinree keeper backpeddled to palm away under the crossbar. Rearcross kept on the attack and Cillian Kennedy crossed a low effort across the goalmouth, however the chance went abegging and then Stephen Rochford tested Jack Gleeson again with a low drive, however the visiting keeper was equal to the effort and made a clean save under pressure to earn an away point for his side. Rearcross grafted well throughout but met stiff resistance from a stern Ballymackey outfit on the day.
